A quick lunch can be had at the bar, where the "Lickity Split Lunch" menu lets you choose two dishes from among many items for one low cost. This lunch menu is only available at the bar, and no reservations are available for this meal, so show up early to beat the lunch rush. Restaurant Eve is also vegetarian- and vegan-friendly, as long as advance notice is given when making reservations.

Using tradition and innovation to create its unique menu of "nuevo Latino" cuisine, Cafe Salsa offers a taste of the exotic. One of the best ways to get the full experience is to stick to ordering a couple appetizers and side dishes instead of an entrée. Definitely get some of the fried plantains no matter what you order, they're hard to find anywhere else and are incredibly delicious. Upstairs at the bar, the award-winning mojitos are well worth the cost, especially on half price Thursdays.

Fresh, delicious oysters can be hard to find in the D.C. area, especially if you're looking for dirt-cheap prices. Luckily, Hank's Oyster Bar offers just that: a variety of oysters from all around the country, still as fresh as if they were pulled out of the sea just minutes before. For those that prefer their food a little less raw, Hank's also has many scrumptious fish, lobster and even steak plates. If you can make it a little early, the happy hour special puts big discounts on the restaurant's namesake treats.
Valentino's New York Style Pizza
Cuisine: Pizza
Price:$
A real New York style pizza experience, Valentino's offers some of the best pizza you'll find anywhere in Virginia. Buy anything from a small pizza for yourself to a huge one that will fill up the whole family and indulge in a pizza with a great crust, delicious sauce and excellent toppings. Order some garlic knots on the side: these perfectly seasoned treats go great with any order. Located at the Plaza at Landmark, you do have to deal with the mall crowd to get here, but the pizza is well worth it and it's still a better option than the delivery experience, which tends to be less than stellar.
Cuisine: Sushi

One of the best of Alexandria's many sushi bars, Ichiban Sushi House makes its mark with a variety of rolls, each as good as the next. Catching on to one of the big fads of sushi restaurants, a fair number of the pieces are offered either deep fried or well covered in strong sauces. Even though it's not as small as some other Old Town restaurants, Ichiban still gets pretty packed during the evenings. If you're really counting on this place to make your night, make a reservation in advance.
